The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, reached a new level on Saturday, as the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party announced the suspension of its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, for alleged anti-party activities.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who announced this in a statement also named others suspended to include, the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha.

The action which is coming barely 24 hours after an Abuja Federal High Court stopped the forthcoming November 15 national elective convention of the party, according to Ologunagba, came as result of several offences they committed in breach of the PDP’s constitution.

“During this period of the suspension, they cease to function in their respective capacities.

“In the case of the National Secretary, Pursuant to Section 36(2) of our Party Constitution as amended in 2017, the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo shall act as the National Secretary.

“In the case of the National Legal Adviser and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, the National Director of Legal Services is hereby directed to oversee the activities of the Department,” the statement read.

Meanwhile the suspended group led by Senator Anyanwu has appointed Mohammed Abdulrahman as the acting National Chairman, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the group’s suspension of acting PDP Chairman, Umar Damagum.

The latest development, according to analysts, is a sign that the umbrella party is heading for irreversible self destruction.
