Nigeria’s Ex International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has called on the National Sports Commission and Nigeria Olympics Committee to lobby for the Africa Olympics Boxing qualifiers to be hosted in Nigeria.
Mazi Okoronkwo who made the call when spoke with Hanto Daily News on the visit of the President World Boxing Association, Boris Van der Bost to Nigeria, noted that if achieved, Nigeria will secure more spots for the competition to be hosted by Los Angeles, USA in 2028.
He commended Boris for choosing to visit Nigeria at this point and expressed confidence that it will encourage the speedy development of boxing at the grassroots.
The Ex International Boxer who is a sports Ambassador pointed out that the visit which is in line with the present administration’s efforts of catching them young argued that it will serve as a source of empowerment of the Youths.
While welcoming the International President on behalf of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu who has been championing grassroots talent hunt in the State, Mazi Okoronkwo further thanked Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for remaining the pillar of sports development.
