A statement by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiya Movement, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, says Kwankwaso will formally register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, at 12 p.m.

The statement explains that the reason behind the decision is the movement’s commitment to the advancement of democratic values and good governance, adding that the decision also reflects the collective interests of the people.
“We have always been committed to the betterment of our state and the nation at large,” Dr. Mohammed said. “This strategic decision is aimed at strengthening democratic principles and promoting inclusive leadership that genuinely reflects the will and aspirations of the people.
“Democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected.
“This decision is in line with our unwavering commitment to democratic values and good governance,” the movement noted.
The Movement therefore urges members to not only register with the ADC but to actively participate in all party activities to ensure the party’s growth, development, and success across all levels of government.
The statement further reiterates the movement’s unity and resolve, assuring that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains committed to building a future that prioritizes the people’s welfare.
“We remain resolute and united in our mission to create a better Nigeria,” Dr. Mohammed concluded. “This is just the beginning of a new chapter in our political journey,” the statement reassures.
Meanwhile, the Former Kano State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.
In a press statement dated March 29, 2026, Kwankwaso explained that the decision followed the need for a strategic political realignment amid the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.
“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement, with a strong following particularly in Kano State, is deeply associated with Senator Kwankwaso and his move to the ADC will result in a significant shift in Nigeria’s political dynamics.
According to analysts, Kwankwaso’s decision to join ADC will definitely alter the plots of the ruling APC’s plan to overwhelmingly clear the all-important Kano votes in the 2027 presidential poll.
