Jonathan meets with National Working Committee of PDP

In their bid to ensure the total revival of their party, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, led by the National Chairman, Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, on Tuesday evening (6/1/26) held a high-level consultative meeting with former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, at his private office in Abuja.

According to reports, the meeting focused on the party’s reconciliation process and strategic repositioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Welcoming his August visitors, Dr Jonathan, made it clear that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains alive, strong, and resilient, contrary to media speculations.

He pointed out that the PDP remains a fundamental pillar of Nigeria’s democracy as it is the only surviving original political party since 1998.

Dr. Jonathan stressed that the PDP possesses the historical resilience and institutional strength required to overcome its current internal challenges.

” I have been a beneficiary of this party, which gave me the opportunity to serve as Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President, and President. I am grateful to the party and will continue to contribute my quota because I feel deeply indebted to it,” the former President stated.

He therefore challenged the party’s leadership to place national and developmental interests above personal ambitions.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Turaki thanked the former President for his fatherly counsel and unwavering loyalty to the PDP and assured him that the current leadership will work towards achieving a comprehensive rebuilding and strengthening of the party.

According to him, “Our goal is to return power to the people and reposition the PDP as the party of the majority of Nigerians. We are reaching out to aggrieved members because a united PDP remains the most viable platform for a balanced and prosperous Nigeria.”

Former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Prof. Jerry Gana, Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi, Hajiya Zainab Maina, Chief Mike Oghiadome, Mohammed Bello Adoke, were among notable party stakeholders that accompanied the NWC during the visit.
