The emerging opposition alliance for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections may soon come to legal fruition as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken a fresh step towards registering the touted platform the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as a political party in Nigeria.

INEC in letter dated June 27, 2025, and signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony acknowledged receipt of ADA’s application, which was submitted by the party’s Protem National Chairman on June 19, 2025.

The letter reads: “The Commission is processing your application in line with the provision of Part 1, clause 2(ii) of our Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022.”
INEC had recently confirmed it had received 110 applications from various groups seeking registration as political parties and the correspondence marks the first formal communication between INEC and the promoters of the coalition platform, ADA.
