The entire membership of the Nigerian Immigration Lawyers Association (NILA), have commiserated with the Ezea Family on the passing of your beloved husband, father, patriarch, and a Fellow of the Association, Distinguished Senator Okechukwu Ezea, PhD, FNILA.

NILA in a condolence message jointly endorsed by Prince Ebere Nwokoro,
1st Vice President / Trustee and Dame (Chief) Barr. Mrs Georgina Ehuria-Arisa, (Trustee), noted that the late Senator’s transition has left a deep void not only within his family, but also within the Nigerian Senate, the legal profession, and the Association.

While lamenting that Senator Ezea departed this world while still in active service to the nation as the Senator
representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, a role he discharged with uncommon diligence, intellectual depth, and patriotic commitment, NILA observed with delight that he brought wisdom, foresight, and clarity to legislative deliberations, particularly through his work as a member of the Senate Committee on Interior and the Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD.
“In these strategic committees, he made purposeful and impactful contributions that reflected his deep understanding of governance, migration, regional integration and Nigeria’s place within Africa and the global community
“Beyond his legislative accomplishments, Senator Ezea was a Fellow of the Nigerian
Immigration Lawyers Association (FNILA) and a distinguished pillar of our professional community. He uniquely bridged the worlds of law, policy, and
legislation, and consistently leveraged his vast experience in public service to
provide wise counsel, expert guidance, and strategic insights to NILA.
“His interventions were always marked by intellectual rigor, humility, and a genuine
desire to advance the objectives of the Association and strengthen immigration law and policy practice in Nigeria.
“To NILA, he was more than a Fellow; he was a mentor, a trusted adviser, and a statesman whose voice carried weight and whose commitment to institutional growth was unwavering.
“His life exemplified service, excellence, and integrity, and his legacy will remain indelibly etched in the annals of our Association,” the Associated painfully pointed out.

NILA however urged the wife and the family to take solace in the fact that Senator Ezea lived a life of meaning,
honour, lasting impact, and a devoted family man.
The members therefore prayed the Almighty God the Ezea Family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
