The Chief Executive Officer of IKEUJ Boxing Promotions, Mazi Comr. Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, days preparations are at an advanced stage for the Action Committee on Sports Literacy aimed at identifying and assembling emerging boxing talents across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
Mazi Okoronkwo, pointed out that registration of boxers has been completed, adding that several athletes are already in a training camp awaiting the release of the official venue and date.
“All is almost set. We will make the official date and venue public by the end of July as we continue to develop the boxers for a world-class championship,” Ex International Boxer Okoronkwo stated.
The Action Committee on sports is a talent hunt programme being driven in collaboration with the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche C . Ugwu and the ALGON Enugu State Chapter, under the Human Capacity Building project of the Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah administration.
According to the Committee, the initiative, under the “Catch Them Young” programme, is a prelude to the upcoming Roaring Lions Professional Boxing Championship, which will be hosted in the South East Nigeria.
