Ikenga Ugochinyere hails restoration of power to pro- Fubara PDP Executive

As opinions continue to pop up from individuals and groups regarding the political crisis in Rivers State, a member of the House of Representatives and the spokesperson, Opposition Coalition in the Green chambers, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has described the judgment of the Rivers State High Court on the leadership tussle in the state chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the spokesperson, Opposition Coalition, Ikenga Ugochinyere, as an end to an era of audacious political impunity.

Hon Ugochinyere in a release noted that the court verdict is a victory for democracy, pointing out that it has finally nailed anti-party and anti-people treacherous politics not just in Rivers but the entire country.

“I wholeheartedly welcomed the judgement of the Rivers State High Court which removed the illegal pro-Wike Aaron Chukwuemeka as the state Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it ends an era of audacious political impunity; anti-party and anti-people treacherous politics.

“We all remember that after the expiration of the tenure of Rivers substantive PDP executives in August 2024, the national leadership of our party gave them a three-month extension,” the outspoken Legislator pointed out.

He maintained his support for the bold steps taken by the Ewor-led party executives which happily declarated “we have taken over our party from members of the APC,” maintaining that “what this judgement means to us is that the party is being restored to the original owners.

According to him”, that the party is restored to the leader of the party, the Governor of the state, Fubara, is a clear indication that the evil machinations of the APC apologists have been dismantled.”

Recall, the state High Court presided over by Justice Stephen Jumbo on Monday in a ruling on interlocutory injunction sought by Edwin Woko and three others, restrained Aaron Chukwuemeka the state Chairman of PDP and the State Executives from parading themselves as executive members of the PDP in the state.

Woko and three others, all PDP members, challenged the congresses that produced Chukwuemeka’s executive committee, arguing that the congresses violated an existing court order, rendering it illegal.
