Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti has used the grand civic reception organized by the people of Umunneochi LGA on Friday 24/7/26 to announce a number of goodies for the council area.

Speaking during the event, held at the Peace Secondary School, Amuda, Isuochi, Governor Otti assured that the long-awaited Mmam Bridge, which was captured in the 2026 budget following previous engagements with the community, would be executed alongside other critical projects.

The Governor announced plans to extend the services of the electric bus to Umunneochi following the arrival of twenty new electric buses to the State .
He further made public that a new route linking Umuahia to Umunneochi, and Umuahia – Okigwe – Uturu (ABSU) would soon commence to improve connectivity and ease transportation for residents and students.

Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, equitable development and sustained transformation across the state.
The Governor pointed out that his administration is committed to ensuring balanced development in every part of Abia State, irrespective of location, adding that investments in free education and infrastructure remain central to his administration’s vision of improving the lives of the people.
“This is your government, and because it is your government, we will continue to invest in your future through education, infrastructure and other people-oriented projects,” Gov. Otti stated.
He commended the people for supporting the government’s efforts to safeguard lives and property, emphasising that community collaboration remains essential in the fight against crime and warned criminals to relocate from Abia.
“Anyone with criminal intentions should either repent or leave because we will smoke criminals out. Together, we shall continue to keep Abia safe for everyone,” Gov, Otti warned.

In their goodwill messages, the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Abia North, Chief David Ogba Onuoha, Member representing Isuikwuato / Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Mathias Umeh and an elder statesman and former Minister of Education, Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike
appreciated Governor Otti for the visible developments in health, road, education as well as confidence in government.

They made it clear that Governor Otti has shown good governance, capacity, exceptional leader and therefore deserves another term of office in 2027.
In their various speeches, Commissioner for Lands Mr Chaka Chukwumerije, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Ngozi Azode, the Mayor of Umunneochi LGA, Chief Sunny Afurobi, Mr. Uche Okoroafor and representative of members of the Northern community of Umuchieze, Alhaji Buba Abdullahi described the Governor as a grassroot oriented and people centred Governor.

They thanked Governor Otti for all that he has done for the people of Umunneochi,
including approving a brand new general hospital and retrofitting of their Primary Healthcare Centres, road constructions, education facilities, tackling of insecurity in the LGA, among others and assured him of his reelection in 2027.

Alhaji Buba Abdullahi in particular noted that Umunneochi is their home and
thanked Governor Otti for dealing with insecurity in Umunneochi which has brought peace to the entire LGA.

The ceremony featured the formal reception and presentation of party flag by Governor Otti and the state Chairman of the Labour Party to new party members led by 2023 PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the State, Dr. Jasper Uche.
