Despite being locked out on Wednesday, 12/3/25 by the House of Assembly and consequently prevented from re-presenting the 2025 budget the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday, March 13, again wrote to the State House of Assembly, indicating his plan to represent the 2025 budget on Wednesday, March 19.
Governor Fubara in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, expressed his willingness to re-present the 2025 appropriation bill on the said date or even on any other date, within March, that suits the lawmakers.
The Governor pointed out that his decision to write to the House is in line with the Supreme Court’s judgment and the lawmakers’ request for the re-presentation of the state’s budget.
He reminded the Legislators that irrespective of the depth of the warring parties’ differences, there is a need for the priorities of Rivers people to take precedence.
“Against this background, it is my pleasure to again notify you, Mr. Speaker, of my desire and intention to present the 2025 Budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday, 19th March 2025, by 11.00 a.m. or any other date within March 2025 that you may consider convenient,” he wrote.
