Ex- international Boxer and Coordinator Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing Talent Hunt, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has initiated moves that will enable students boxers in Tertiary institutions in Enugu State to prepare adequately for the upcoming NUGA competition.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News after interacting with the authorities of some Institutions, Mazi Okoronkwo disclosed that the move is in line with the dream of the Peter Mbah led administration to empower Youths through Sports.
The Sports Ambassador revealed that most of the Student Boxers were discovered from the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots boxing talent hunt programme and lauded the Speaker, Rt Hon Uche C. Ugwu for providing the opportunity.
Mazi Okoronkwo who made public that the Student Boxers were already undergoing training at the Enugu Sports Council under his guidance, assured that the State with the cooperation of the Tertiary institutions involved will produce talents that will soon rule the world.
He therefore pleaded with authorities of Universities and other Higher institutions in the State to collaborate with the Team Ikechukwu Okoronkwo in raising Boxers that bring laurels to Enugu State at all levels.
