Fubara Returns To Political Family, Backs Tinubu, Chinda

In what seems to be open declaration of his position, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Rainbow Coalition and its candidates, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Ovunda Kingsley (O.K.) Chinda, in the 2027 general elections.

Making the declaration on Wednesday during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the RIVEN Medical Industries Project at Rumuosi, along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, Sir Fubara said his focus was on sustaining peace and moving Rivers State forward.

He vowed not to be part of any action capable of causing disunity in the state.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and O.K. Chinda is the governorship candidate I am supporting. Anybody who believes in me should support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor said.

The Governor assured that the RIVEN Medical Industries Project would be completed within a short time, stressing that it would stimulate industrialisation, job creation and economic growth.

He explained that he accepted to participate in the groundbreaking only after satisfying himself that the investors possessed the financial and technical capacity to deliver the project, unlike similar ventures that failed in the past.

Fubara disclosed that the state government was currently facing litigation involving failed investment agreements worth over ₦200 billion, adding that his administration was determined to avoid repeating such mistakes.

He described the proposed factory as a strategic investment that would position Rivers State as a major producer of medical consumables, attract more investors and create employment opportunities for youths.

The governor also appealed to the host community to cooperate with the investors, assuring the company of the state government’s full support to ensure the successful completion and operation of the project.
