Former CDS, Musa, to replace Badaru as Defence Minister

Following the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru on Monday as Minister of defence, President Bola Tinubu has nominated former Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, rtd, as the new Minister of Defence.

The development is contained in a letter by PresidentTinubu to the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, forwarding the name of the nominee.

Recall, Gen Musa (Rtd), served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2023 until October 2025 when he handed over to the incumbent.

He won the Colin Powell Award for Soldiering in 2012.

The former CDS who was Born in 1967 in Sokoto where he had his primary and secondary education there before attending the College of Advanced Studies in Zaria.

In 1986, He enrolled at the Nigerian Defence Academy where he secured a Bachelor of Science degree upon graduation in 1991.

Gen Musa won the Colin Powell Award for Soldiering in 2012 and distinguished himself in service to his fatherland and humanity.
