Five persons were Thursday night burnt to death following a ghastly motor accident involving a Mass Transit Bus along Abakaliki – Enugu Expressway.
According to reports the incident occurred at the G – Hostel axis of the busy and strategic inte – state road.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Mr Joshua Ukandu who confirmed the unfortunate development disclosed that the Commercial bus fully loaded with passengers crashed and busted into flames after encountering an obstacle on the road in the middle of the night.
According to him, seven other passengers involved in the accident were taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki for treatment while the charred remains of those who lost their lives had been deposited in the mortuary.
Investigation reveals that the obstacle was kept as a result of ongoing rehabilitation of some failed portions of Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.
