Enugu State Boxing Association rolls out activities for 2025

The recently inaugurated Enugu State Boxing Association has rolled out a number of activities slated to hold this year.

A release endorsed by the Head Boxing, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Udo Blaise says the year will begin with the Governor’s cup between 12 – 14 February to be followed by the 8th edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly sponsored Boxing tournament coordinated by Ex International Boxer, Ikechukwu Okoronkwo from ,10 – 17 March.

Others are the Late Osondu Ogbu (old School) memorial tournament (6, April), National Sports festival, Ogun State (16 – 28 May), Ton Chidi Aghachie sponsored Under – 15 South East boxing championship ( July) and Charles Ike sponsored State championship (August).

The rest include the 9th edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly sponsored Boxing tournament coordinated by Ex International Boxer, Ikechukwu Okoronkwo ( 11 – 18 August), Enugu State Boxing Board sponsored State championship and Champion of Champions sponsored by David Hull Entertainment Centre, Enugu (26, December).

Speaking in an interview with Hanto Daily News, a member of the Boxing Association and Ex International, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo commended the foresight of the Ministry and the Board in marshalling out Programmes that will guarantee the development of boxing in the State.

He particularly expressed happiness that the 8th and 9th editions of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly sponsored Grassroots boxing tournaments will hold this year and assured his readiness to ensure successful outings.

Mazi Okoronkwo described sports as the easiest way of empowering Youths, particularly in this era of economic crisis and prevalence of crimes.
