ASOPADEC awards scholarship to 68 first year ABSU students

The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has awarded scholarships to 68 students for undergraduate studies in various courses in Abia State University, Uturu.

Speaking during the award of certificates in his office, Umuahia, the General Manager of the Commission, Dr. Joshua Onyeike said the gesture is part of the Commission’s efforts to sustain its scholarship scheme for human capital development, which is in tandem with the education policy of the Dr Alex Otti led administration.

Dr. Onyeike also made public that the Commission has embarked on some strategic steps towards improving on education of the people of the oil producing communities and named them to include reconstruction of school blocks and registration of WAEC and JAMB in the year 2024, revealing that above One hundred students graduated from scheme recently.

The ASOPADEC General Manager who congratulated the students, pointed out that the scholarship awards covers tuition and accommodation fees and urged them to make good use of the opportunities to develop themselves in their various fields of studies.

He however stated that the award will be reviewed from time in line with their academic performances.

Responding, some of the benefiting students, including Enyioke Uzochukwu Godswill, Moses beauty Oluomachi, and Nwogu Gift Akuoma from Ukwa West LGA expressed gratitude to the General Manager for the award and promised to work hard.

Highlight of the Ceremony was the handover of award letters to the Students by the General Manager of the Commission. Management staff of the Commission were present during the occasion.
