As political parties round off their primaries, Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti has emerged the Labour Party Governorship flag bearer for the 2027 Gubernatorial elections with other Candidates for different positions also made public.

In the Guber primaries held at the International Conference Center Ogurube layout Umuahia, Governor polled a total of 368,213 votes.
Announcing the results of the direct primary election in the presence of INEC, EU officials and other observers, the returning Officer for the exercise Mrs Oluchi Opara also declared that Governor Otti is returned unopposed.

Speaking after receiving his certificate of return from the National Secretary of the party Chief Acho Obioma, Abia Governor, Dr Otti thanked the organizers of the primaries for the smooth and rancor free conduct of the exercise across the 17LGAS.
The Governor also thanked Leaders and stakeholders of the party who sat over the past weeks resolving issues that led to consensus candidates virtually in all the Constituency.
While congratulating all the candidates on their emergence, Governor Otti informed them to brace up for the task ahead as the their emergence marks the beginning of Greater job ahead.
He expressed confidence in the candidates who emerged as great leaders and politicians who have mastered the game of politics and have contested and won elections in the past, urging all to key behind the candidates for a successful election come 2027.
Presenting the Certificate of return to the Governor, the National Secretary of the party, Chief Acho Obioma announced that the primaries went smoothly across the 17GAS and congratulated the Candidates for their successful primaries.
Meanwhile,following the conclusion of the primaries, names of Candidates for the party in various positions have been officially made public.
They are Abia Central senatorial district, Darlington Nwokocha, Abia North senatorial district Chief Ogba Onuoha and Abia South senatorial district Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
In the House of Representatives, the candidates are: Aba North and South – Mascot Ikwecheghe, Ikwuano/Umuahia Chief – Obi Aguocha, Arochukwu/Ohafia – Ibe Okwara Osonwa, Isialangwa North and South – Chief Ginger Onwusibe and Amobi Ogah – Umunneochi/Isuikwuato federal Constituency.

Others are Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo – Wabu Chiemela, Bende – Chima Anyaso and Ugochukwu Nwoke – Ukwa East and West .
For the House of Assembly, Candidates include: Boniface Isienyi – Ikwuano state Constituency, Bende South state Constituency – Okorie Chinedu, Arochukwu state Constituency – Okoro Uchenna Kalu, Bende North state Constituency – Mr Nnamdi Ibekwe, Isialangwa North state Constituency – Mr Iheonunekwu Collins and Isialangwa South state Constituency – Mr Roland Chiwendu.
Others are Isuikwuato – Lucky Johnson, Obingwa West – Onwubiko Victoria, Ohafia South – Kalu Nwoke, Obingwa East – Kelechi Ebere, Ohafia North – Mkpa Oju Uka and Osisioma north Nwogu Iheanacho Emmanuel.
Also in the list are: Osisioma south Fyne Ahuama, Ugwunagbo Chijioke Uruakpa – Ukwa East Louis Chinemerem – Ukwa West – Ahukanna Chiemeka, Umuahia Central – Anthony Chinasa, Umuahia East – Augustine Okezie Nmeregini and Umuahia North – Anderson Akaliro.
The rest include: Umuahia South – Obioma Emeka, Umunneochi – Mathias Ume, Aba Central – Stephen Akachukwu and Aba South – Emmanuel Emeruwa.
