Opposition parties are gearing up for the take over of Aso Rock as the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the upcoming general election, following a unanimous endorsement by the party’s leadership.
Gov Makinde was nominated as the consensus candidate, having received unanimous backing from all 36 state chairmen of the party.
The Oyo State Governor is now set to challenge incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who also hails from the South-West region, as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the eventual Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the APM, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali, described the selection process as one of the most peaceful, transparent, and orderly exercises in Nigeria’s political history.
The APM National Chairman presented Makinde with the party’s Certificate of Return and the APM flag, officially confirming him as the party’s standard-bearer.
