Abia State Government says it will soon commence strict enforcement of the registration of commercial vehicles

The Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting.

Prince Kanu noted that commercial vehicles operating in the state is still ongoing and encouraged those yet to comply with the initiative to do so.

The Commissioner announced that 5 newly completed road projects under the direct Labour initiative will soon be commissioned.

The roads include the repairs on the 19.5km Umuahia -Bende road, phase 1 and 2, the maintenance work on the 1.76 KM Igbere junction to Onu roundabout.

Others are the reconstruction of the 2.5Km Umuokogbuo road, the rehabilitation of the 8.3 Isieketa -Obikabia road Isialangwa South LGA and the Obehie -Ezendioma road Ukwa west LGA , adding that Governor Alex Otti will in the coming months flag off the total reconstruction of the Umuahia -Bende road based on the recommendation of experts.

Prince Kanu who used the forum to announce the release of a prominent business man who was kidnapped in Ukwa few weeks ago, advised Abians including Traditional Rulers and Town union leaders to remain vigilant and report all cases of suspicious movements involving criminal elements to security Agents.

He made it clear that the state government will through security agencies start beaming their lights on on all traditional rulers to ascertain those who harbor criminals in their domains, warning that any of such Royal Fathers found culpable would be treated as one.
