Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti has handed over 5 newly repaired and retrofitted Personnel Armored Carriers to the Nigerian Police Force.
Handing over the vehicles in a ceremony held at government House Umuahia, Governor Otti noted that the Vehicles were in terrible states of disrepair when he assumed office and made it clear that he took the bold step of repairing them knowing that they have long-staying power.
“Five of them are ready, while we are still struggling with the last one, five of them have been completely retrofitted and they’re as good as new. It’s all about maintenance our believe is that never again would we allow our assets to dilapidate in this state,a lot of things that we throw away can be easily fixed and we have demonstrated it”, the Governor stated.
He stressed the needl to cultivate maintenance culture and charged those in charge of the vehicles to ensure that the vehicles are regularly maintained.
Appreciating the gesture , the Commissioner of Police, Abia State CP Danladi Isa thanked Governor Alex Otti for his numerous support to the Nigerian Police, saying that it is glaring among the public.
He said that the Amored Police Carriers (APC) would help them improve on their security duties and promised that the police would make judicious use of the Vehicles.
