The Abia State Deputy Governor, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu has chalkenged a group of former PDP stalwarts in Umunneochi Local Government Area that defected to the labour party in the state to be ready to use their ideas to support the excellent work being done by Governor Alex Otti under the New Abia.
Chief Emetu threw the challenge while receiving the defectors led by a former state publicity secretary of the party Chief Fabian Nwankwo and other stalwarts including former T.C chairman, former LGA party chairmen, firmer councillors and their supporters shortly after he commissioner the constituency project of the member representing Umunneochi state constituency Mr. Mathias Ume.
The deputy Governor who represented Governor Alex Otti at the event assured them of meeting with the Governor and commended the House of Assembly member for showing leadership that has now attracted the attention of some credible members of the opposition to join in the moving Train.
Welcoming the defectors also, the member representing Umunneochi and deputy majority leader of the state house of Assembly pointed out that the development marks the collapse of opposition PDP in Umunneochi and assured his commitment alongside other stakeholders in ensuring that the Labour Party in Umunneochi continues to wax stronger.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues and their supporters, a former state publicity secretary of the PDP who also ran for the state constituency seat Chief Fabian Nwankwo said the unprecedented achievements of Dr. Alex Otti under eighteen months especially his attention to Umunneochi in security, infrastructure and others informed their collective decision to join the labour party in order to accord him maximum support and loyalty.
Chief Nwankwo further lauded the quality representation and performance of Mr. Mathias Ume, which according to him, is a pointer to the fact that a lot is changing in Umunneochi and the state at large.
