As Abians enthusiastically await the groundbreaking ceremony for the much-anticipated Abia International Airport on Tuesday, 17/12/24, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau,Dr Oluebube Chukwu, says the project will be a “game-changer” for the economy of Abia and the entire southeastern region.
Speaking with Journalists in Umuahia, Dr Chukwu noted that the construction of the airport would open up Abia to new economic opportunities, boost trade, attract investors, and provide a significant boost to the state’s tourism industry.
While expressing confidence that the airport would create thousands of jobs and support the growth of key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and services, he noted that Abia, which is already a hub for commerce and industrial activities, would experience a surge in investments and trade once the airport is operational.
According to him the airport will also serve as a gateway for businesses and entrepreneurs to access local and international markets more easily.
“The Abia International Airport will facilitate smoother connectivity, enhance business operations and provide Abia with a competitive edge.
“It will be a vital asset to the economy, reducing the reliance on airports in neighboring states and promoting Abia as an investment destination.
“The airport when completed, will also address transportation challenges within the region, facilitating the movement of goods and people, particularly for business owners and manufacturers in the state’s industrial hub of Aba.
This improvement in logistics is expected to reduce the cost of doing business, promote economic activities, and attract more industries to the state”, Dr Chukwu assured.
The Due Process Boss pointed out that the development of the airport further aligns with the state’s vision of enhancing infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for business and economic growth.
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti will be joined on Tuesday by key stakeholders,across the nation for the groundbreaking ceremony Abia International Airport which will mark a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructural development.
