The ancient commercial North West city of Kano this Saturday, (8/11/25) witnessed Islamic organisations staging a protest against the recent stance of United States President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security and the alleged Genocide against Christians.

Reports say the protesters marched through parts of the city carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria,” “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” and “America wants to control our resources.”

Recall President Trump recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged persecution of Christians, warning that if the Nigerian government fails to address the killings, the U.S. military could step in.
Though the Tinubu-led Nigerian government described the allegation as inaccurate and misleading, the US government has subsequently insisted on its earlier stand.
With the Kano demonstration holding, analysts say other northern cities are likely to follow as has been the case in the past.
