Following the impeachment of the Leader Umunneochi Local Government Legislative Council, Hon Mrs Obiageri Chukwu, a new leadership of the house has emerged with Rt Hon Hon Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi as the Leader.
A release endorsed by the new Council Leader, Rt Hon Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi says the changes were effected on Thursday.
The release names other principal Officers to include Hon Joel Obumneme Uche – Deputy Leader, Hon Mba David C- Majority Leader,Hon Mrs Nwafor Charity – Deputy Majority Leader and Hon Ofoegbu Chukwubiko – Chief Whip.
According to the release copied to the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs and security agencies, the former Leader, Hon Mrs Chukwu is said to have been suspended indefinitely.
Meanwhile the Umunneochi Council of Traditional Rulers have passed a vote of confidence on the Council Chairman/ Mayor Chief Sunny Afurobi.
The Royal Fathers in a release endorsed by its Chairman, Eze Franklin Ohalezim, Secretary – Eze Wilson Egbo and Eze Ernest Onwuka issued at the end of their meeting this Friday eulogized the Mayor for the massive infrastructural development witnessed under his administration.
While pledging their continued , the Traditional Rulers warned detractors to desist from any attempt to become instrumental to orchestrated interference in the political atmosphere of the peaceful Council.
