The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State for the 2027 election, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, says he will complete the abandoned secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State Council, within his first 100 days in office, if elected Governor.
Addressing members of the Abia state council of the NUJ during their monthly congress where he spoke on his vision for the state, Dr Anosike pointed out Journalists deserve a conducive and comfortable environment to carry out their professional responsibilities.
While stressing the importance of providing media practitioners with a befitting secretariat, the PDP Guber Candidate made it clear that newsmen need a place where they can be comfortable as they perform their duties of informing the public and holding government accountable.

He noted that the commitment was part of his broader philosophy of people-centred governance, pointing out that government must pay attention to institutions and professionals whose work contributes to the development of society.
Dr Anosike further argued that the media should be regarded as a critical stakeholder and partner in democratic governance rather than merely as a campaign instrument for politicians.
According to him, Journalists play an important role in keeping the government accountable and ensuring that the concerns and welfare of citizens remain at the centre of governance.
