The Executive Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, says the 35th anniversary of the creation of Abia State is more than a celebration of the past, but an opportunity to appreciate the journey so far and renew the collective commitment to building a greater Abia.
Chief Afurobi in a release goodwill message to mark the occasion also noted that It is a moment to honour the contributions of the founding fathers, past leaders, public servants, entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, professionals, youths, women and every citizen whose efforts have contributed to the growth and development of our dear state.
“This anniversary is more than a celebration of the past; it is an opportunity to appreciate the journey so far and renew our collective commitment to building a greater Abia.
“It is a moment to honour the contributions of our founding fathers, past leaders, public servants, entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, professionals, youths, women and every citizen whose efforts have contributed to the growth and development of our dear state,” the Mayor pointed out.
While joining millions of Abians in celebrating the day, the Executive Mayor expressed confidence that with renewed hope, unity and determination, the people can build an Abia where good governance, quality infrastructure, economic opportunities, security, education and sustainable development remain the collective aspirations of the citizens.
“For 35 remarkable years, Abia has remained a land of resilience, enterprise, determination, innovation and immense human potential. From the industrious streets of Aba to the historic communities of Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South, our people have continued to demonstrate the strength, creativity and courage that make our state unique,” he noted.
Chief Afurobi, therefore, on behalf of the people of Umunneochi Local Government Area, felicitated the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the government and people of Abia State, on the momentous occasion.
He concluded by praying: “May the next chapter of Abia’s history bring greater prosperity, peace, unity, development and opportunities for every citizen.”
