As it continues its relentless war against drug trafficking and abuse, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 38 year old businesswoman, Iwebema Ogechi Peace, with 7.5 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in her luggage while attempting to board a flight to Beijing, China.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that the female suspect was apprehended on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
A search of her check in luggage revealed four large parcels of the Class A drug, professionally hidden in a false bottom.
The agency also announced the interception of 4,959 kilogrammes of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis worth over N12.3 billion at the Apapa Port Complex, Lagos.
The NDLEA revealed that the illicit consignment hidden inside a 40 foot container was tracked for four weeks from Toronto, Canada, before its joint examination on Wednesday.
Reacting to the string of successful operations, the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), lauded the operatives for their efforts and urged them not to relent in the ongoing fight against transnational drug cartels.
