As part of the effort to review the activities of the party at the grassroots, strengthen unity among members, and discuss practical strategies for consolidating the presence of the party, a strategic meeting of stakeholders and members of the Labour Party in Umunneochi Local Government Area held on Saturday 27/6/26 with the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, the Mayor Umunneochi LGA, Chief Sunny Afurobi, among other stakeholders addressing the gathering.

Speaking at the interactive meeting held at the Council Headquarters, Nkwoagu, Hon. Ogah commended the stakeholders and party faithful for their overwhelming show of love and solidarity, unwavering commitment, resilience, and continued support for the ideals of the Labour Party.
Hon Ogah reminded them that unity, discipline, and collective responsibility remain essential to sustaining the party’s progress and delivering effective representation to the people.
He reiterated that no amount of distraction from the opposition would deter him from providing quality and effective representation and assured constituents that more communities would continue to benefit from developmental projects as a reward for their confidence and support.

The lawmaker therefore vowed to continue ensuring commitment to quality leadership, inclusive governance, and the continued pursuit of policies and programmes that will improve the lives of the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
While charging members to remain steadfast, peaceful, and focused as the party continues to build on its achievements, Hon. Ogah also urged eligible constituents who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, stressing that voting remains the most effective means of electing credible leaders.

The National Assembly Member appealed for continued support for him, Governor Alex Otti, the party’s Candidates in the 2027 polls to ensure sustained development across the constituency.
Addressing the large gathering, the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, who commended the impressive turnout, appreciated them for their unwavering confidence in the Labour Party and urged them to remain steadfast in their support for the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

While emphasizing the need for continued loyalty, unity, and commitment to the ideals of the party, the Mayor noted with delight the landmark achievement of Governor Alex Otti across the state, particularly in Umunneochi Local Government Area.
Mayor Afurobi further commended the Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, for his outstanding legislative performance.
The Mayor lauded the lawmaker for sponsoring impactful bills and motions, as well as effectively carrying out his oversight functions, which have attracted numerous developmental projects to the constituency.

He described Hon. Ogah’s first and second phases of empowerment programmes as historic, eye-opening, laudable, life-changing, and beneficial to the people and enjoined him to sustain the good work.
Describing Hon. Ogah as a youthful, sagacious, and vibrant legislator, the Mayor stated that his three years in the National Assembly has demonstrated beyond doubt that the people made the right choice by electing him.
He therefore called on the people of Umunneochi to continue supporting him to enable him to deliver more dividends of democracy.
Mayor Afurobi also applauded the Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathias Ume, for his quality representation and legislative contributions through sponsoring meaningful legislation and contributing to the development of Umunneochi.
According to the Mayor, the lawmaker’s humility, legislative ingenuity, and commitment to carrying his constituents along are commendable qualities that make him deserving of another term in office.
The Umunneochi Council Boss used the forum to highlight some of the developmental projects executed by his administration, including the ongoing multi-million-naira piggery project at Amuda Ward; the construction of modern evening markets with boreholes and public conveniences at Mbala, Ngodo, Ubahu, and Lekwesi communities; cassava farms at Ngodo and Nneato; the Achara Bridge project; the Umuaku Military Operational Base; construction of culverts; erosion control projects; and several other projects spread across the various wards.
He assured residents that more people-oriented projects would continue to be executed across the local government area.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Dr. Jude Onwuahanze, appreciated Mayor Sunny Afurobi, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, party stakeholders, executives, support groups, and members for attending the interactive meeting. He disclosed that the zonal meetings would henceforth rotate across the four zones of the local government area to further strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
Dr. Onwuahanze also thanked Mayor Afurobi and Hon. Ogah for providing the logistics that made the meeting successful and prayed for God’s continued blessings and enlargement upon them.
The meeting concluded on a note of renewed confidence, unity, and determination to work together in advancing the vision of the Labour Party and promoting sustainable development across Umunneochi Local Government Area.
