In an apparent show of disapproval, the senate on Thursday distanced itself from the warrant of arrest issued against Mele Kyari, former group chief executive officer, GCEO, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited, by its committee on public accounts.

Sounding obviously disgusted over what transpired on Wednesday at the sitting off the committee, the Senate also distanced itself from comments attributed to Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North, describing staff of the NNPC as thieves.

Recall, Oshiomhole had described the NNPC as a bunch of criminals and thieves during the committee’s hearing on Wednesday.
An official of the NNPC who was briefing the committee reacted angrily to the utterance, telling the senator that his allegations were totally unacceptable and false.
