It was a celebration of great attainments and good governance by the people as the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti commissioned the newly reconstructed and dualized 6-Kilometer Abia Tower -Onuimo road on the ever busy Umuahia-Owerri road and 7 other newly constructed and reconstructed roads in Umuahia North and South LGAS.
The 7 other roads commissioned include the 4.3 kilometer Orpet-Umuafai -Lodu-Ahiaeke Ndume road , the 3.8 -kilometer Ahiaeke-Okwuta-Isieke -Bende road now J.O.J OKEZIE Road and
the 2.2 -kilometer Umuogo Nsukwe road, Ubakala.
The rest are the 1.2-kilometer Madona-Enyiukwu -Afara Ring Road, the 300 -meters Justice Okoroafor Close,Afara, the 450 -meters Umubioko-Amakama road and the new reconstructed and expanded Library Avenue road Umuahia.
Speaking while Commissioning the 6-kilometer AbiaTower -Onuimo road Governor Otti explained that the idea behind the project was to give the entry point into Umuahia the state capital a beautiful look befitting a city center, adding that the Owerrinta -Umuikaa road other entry points into the state are also undergoing reconstruction and expansion.
The Governor expressed fulfillment that the road handled by Craneburg Construction Company was completed on record time with solar powered street lights and drainages on both sides.
On the Umuogo Nsukwe, the Governor noted that the road was before now threatened by erosion, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the road construction and erosion control.
He further argued that the roads constructed and reconstructed in Umuahia North and South Local Government Areas will improve development, in addition to its multiplier effect on the socio-economic growth.
Governor Otti assured that the road projects executed by his administration are done with the best standard and must have 24 hours Solar -Powered street lights.
Earlier in his speech on the Abia Tower-Onuimo road, the Commissioner for Works, Mr Otumchere Oti noted that the road was before the reconstruction infested with multiple portholes and erosion and commended Governor Otti for reconstructing the road despite being a federal road.
He said that Abia is blessed with a Governor who does not distinguish between state and federal Roads, noting that the road was constructed to the best specifications with asphaltic concrete,over stabilized stone base and two dual carriageway running.
In their speeches, the Deputy Speaker Abia House of Assembly Chief Augustine Okezie and the Commissioner for Budget and planning Mr Kingsley Anosike thanked Governor Otti for his rescue mission in the state, assuring him that their people will reciprocate and appreciate him in the forthcoming general elections.
