The Abia state police command says it has its officers seen in a trending video depicting Police misconduct at Uturu on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The video showed its officers harassing a commuter for having three phones and failing to provide the identities of those who own them.
The command in a statement endorsed by its spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson of the command, explained that following the incident, the complainant was contacted while the officers involved were identified, traced and promptly arrested.
According to the statement, the Abia state Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, has ordered for the investigation of the affected officers at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for appropriate administrative action, assuring to further update the public on the outcome.
The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, discipline and civility to the members of the public and warned that impunity and all forms of misconduct will not be tolerated in line with the Inspector General of Police mandate to ensure a friendly and Human Rights compliance Police Force .
