Politicking for the the Rivers State governorship seat is heating up as the All Progressives Congress, APC, has screened and cleared Kingsley Chinda, a loyalist of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, ahead its gubernatorial primary election in Rivers State.
With the present development, the incumbent governor Siminalayi Fubara, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Chinda and others are now battling for the APC ticket to contest the 2027 election.
Chinda who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, Nyesom Wike’s Constituency, according to reports, is likely to get the blessings of the FCT Minister, if he emerges winner of the May 21 primary election.
The current situation in Rivers APC, as analysts say, may bring out the clear position of president Bola Tinubu on the debacle which may affect the fortunes of the party in the oil rich state.
As has been the practice in the past and even now, the party is expected to throw their weight behind the incumbent Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
