Trouble Looms As Ohuhu Traditional Rulers Disagree Over Dissolution of CTC Welfare Union

Concerned members of the Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, have roundly condemned the actions of some Ohuhu traditional rulers, who were said to have recently purported to have dissolved the Caretaker Committee of the Ohuhu Welfare Union.

Addressing journalists, the Concerned Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, including Eze Bobby Aguocha, Eze Engr. John Ezeomah, Eze Emezue, Eze Uzor Nwosu, Eze Daniel Ukaegbu, Eze Onyebuchi Onuoha, Eze Engr. Emeka Nwankwo among others, claimed that Eze Charles Ngwuli, and his associates, acted without proper consultation, and assumed powers they do not have, adding that their action fell short of their constitutional duty of ensuring a peaceful society.

While listing actions damaging the image of the traditional institution, to include: organizing unnecessary ceremonies to extort money from individuals and corporate organizations, the Royal Fathers further described introducing the title of ‘Traditional Prime Minister General’ to Ndi Ohuhu, as alien to her culture, and therefore declared it null and void, and of no effect.

According to them certain actions allegedly taken by Eze Ngwuli and his associates, in the name of Ndi Eze Ohuhu, have in many cases, brought the revered body of Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers to disrepute, and undermined the progress and development of Ndi Ohuhu.

They further claimed that the dissolution of the Caretaker Committee of the Ohuhu Welfare Union (OWU), Worldwide, did not followed due process, and consequently declared the action null and void and of no effect.

The Concerned members of Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, therefore directed the Caretaker Transition Committee,(CTC) of Ohuhu Welfare Union, (OWU), to reschedule a new date for the OWU elections, and announce same to Ndi Ohuhu, and immediately proceed with the conduct of the elections.

They particularly criticized the cancellation of the OWU Worldwide election, insisting that any perceived infractions by the committee should have been addressed following due process, and also giving the CTC fair hearing and right of reply, and not based on unilateral decisions taken by a few individuals, who do not mean well for Ndi Ohuhu.

While declaring that the general interest of Ndi Ohuhu, supercedes individual interests at all times, the Royal Fathers noted that following all the alleged infractions, the Concerned members of the Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers unanimously agreed that there will be immediate reconstitution of the leadership of Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, and that the present Exco led by His Royal Majesty Eze Charles Ngwuli .

They therefore enjoined them to step aside for the constitution of a new leadership, having allegedly failed Ohuhu Traditional Rulers, assuring that an interim Exco will be set up to manage the affairs of Ndi Eze Ohuhu.
