As the world celebrates this year’s Christmas, the Mayor Umunneochi Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Afurobi, has urged the people of the council area to embrace the season with gratitude, unity, and renewed hope.
In his goodwill message, the Mayor who described Christmas as a period to exhibit love, reflection, and selflessness, called on all to embrace peace, compassion, and mutual respect.
Hon Afurobi encouraged the people of Umunneochi to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that unite the community and to continue fostering harmony across towns and families.
While welcoming indigenes returning home for the festivities, he pointed out that their presence not only adds colour to the season but also reinforces the deep-rooted cultural and emotional ties that bind the community.
The Mayor, however, urged all travellers to prioritise safety on the roads, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and avoid reckless driving in order to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
Hon Afurobi used the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and highlighted plans to strengthen healthcare delivery, boost agricultural productivity, and enhance community-based security initiatives for the building of a more resilient and prosperous Umunneochi.
According to him, these initiatives are part of a broader vision to create a peaceful, thriving, and people-centred local government where every resident can live, work, and prosper with dignity.
Looking ahead to the New Year, Mayor Afurobi who expressed confidence about the future of Umunneochi, called for unity, collective responsibility, and sustained cooperation among all stakeholders in driving development.
“May the joy and light of Christmas fill every home, and may the coming year usher in good health, peace, and abundant blessings for all our people,” the Mayor concluded.
