The Methodist Bishop of Ihube diocese, the Right Reverend Peter Dim has charged the clergy and the laity in the church to redouble efforts in their work of faith in order to rescue souls especially youths who are being lost on a daily basis to various ungodly acts.
The right reverend Dim who gave the charge at 2025 diocesan synod of the Methodist diocese of Ihube which was held at the Trinity Methodist Church Lekwesi Umuchieze on the theme “He will rise again”, urged Christians to always seek spiritual guidance and direction at every turn in their lives.
The Methodis Bishop also used the forum to announce that the diocese will be embarking on various youth empowerment and capacity building activities and programmes within the year and beyond in order to assist in tackling issues of idleness and unemployment amongst youths and thanked the keynote speaker of the synod and member representing Umunneochi state constituency Hon. Mathias Ume for his presence and thought-provoking address.
Preaching during the Synod Thanksgiving service on the theme “He will rise again”, the Rector of the Methodist Theological Institute Umuahia, the very reverend Dr. Kingsley Nwaike reminded Christians that despite their place in the body of Christ, they are not immune to the trials and tribulations of life.
According to very reverend Nwaike, every trial or challenge presents an opportunity for God to manifest His Goodness upon the lives of His children and urged the church to remain vigilant and prayerful.
In a Keynote address at the Synod, the deputy majority of the Abia state House of Assembly and member representing Umunneochi state constituency Hon. Mathias Ume tasked Christians irrespective of denomination on practical obedience and adherence to God’s commandments.
Hon. Ume who described the lifestyle of any christian which is not in consonance with Biblical tenets as hypocritic and fake, enjoined the clergy to always live by example by practicalizing what they preach.
He also appreciated the Methodist Bishop of Ihube diocese, the Right Reverend Peter Dim, the entire clergy and laity for for their support and prayers for him and the labour party administration in the state led by Governor Alex Otti.
Highpoints of the 3-day synod were the presentation of lay preachers, presentation of reports among other thongs while the synod session attracted the presence of the mayor Umunneochi LGA Chief Sunny Afuruobi and other officials.
