The Executive Chairman/ Mayor Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has announced a donation of a laptop to each of the over thirty participants in the just launched of the TechRise, Igniting Digital Excellence through advanced digital skills programme, sponsored by Abia State government and the seventeen Local Government Area Chairmen, in collaboration with Learn Factory Organisation.
Addressing the Youths shortly after the official inauguration of the programme at the auditorium of St Andrew Anglican Church, Isiama Afara, Ibeku, Umuahia North LGA for those in Umuahia zone, Chief Afurobi described the programme as a special and enduring empowerment initiative that will have tremendous effects on the Youths.
While expressing confidence that at the end of the three months training exercise, the trainees will not only be independent and work on their own but will also become employers of labour, the Mayor reminded the Umunneochi Delegates that they owe it as an obligation to take the lectures very seriously, distinguish themselves in character and learning, to enable them to be useful to themselves, their families, and communities at large.
He further described the team as great Ambassadors, and assured that more empowerment programmes are being packaged for the benefit of the good people of Umunneochi, particularly those who could not benefit from the ICT base programme.
Chief Afurobi appreciated Governor Alex Chioma Otti, for approving and supporting the three months Digital Training on ICT, for Abia youths, pointing out that the gesture sums up his desire for strategic, quality, and life changing empowerment programmes for the people.
According to him, the participants apart from getting the training Laptops, will also be provided with quality feeding, and accommodation.
In their vote of thanks on behalf of others, Mr Chiji Lucky and Mr Onyeje Godswill Ikechukwu, thanked the Mayor, Chief Sunny Afurobi, for believing in them and selecting them unconditionally, assuring that they will not betray the confidence reposed on them.
They specifically thanked the Mayor for the laptops given to them which they described as a great empowerment tool and assured that they will judiciously utilized them.
