Tension has continued to rise in the Oil-Rich South-South state of Rivers State with violent activities beginning to rest their ugly heads in some parts as a result of the impeachment threat by the State House of Assembly against the Governor and his Deputy.
Apart from the explosion that a rocked the Trans-Niger pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area Monday night, Youths from the Ijaw ethnic group also this Tuesday blocked a section of the East-West Road in Rivers State, disrupting traffic in protest against the planned impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof Ngozi Nma Odu by the State Assembly.

The East-West Road is a major highway linking key cities in the Niger Delta, including Port Harcourt, Warri, and Calabar, making it a critical route for transportation and commerce.
Recall, on Monday, the Rivers State House of Assembly issued a notice of gross misconduct against Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, signaling the start of an impeachment process.
