The law has finally come down heavily on the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Ndifon, as Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted and sentenced him to five years imprisonment without an option of fine for sexually harassing a female student.
In a judgement delivered on Monday, in the matter brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Omotosho noted that the prosecution had proved the evidence in counts one and two beyond reasonable doubt against him.

The judgment sentenced Ndifon to two-year jail term in count one and five-year imprisonment in count two which must run concurrently.
He, however, discharged and acquitted Sunny Anyanwu, who was earlier a member of Ndifon’s team of lawyers, of the charges of trying to obstruct justice against him.
Explaining the reason for setting Anyanwu free, the judge made it clear that the anti-corruption commission was unable to link the offences in counts three and four in which his name appeared, to the co-defendant.
Speaking further, justice Omotosho noted that Ndifon was unable to controvert the evidence that he unduly pressurised TKJ (the lady harassed) to perform the immoral act with her.
Justice Omotosho berated Ndifon’s immoral conduct, and condemned his randy nature said: “It was with dismay I read through this case that a Dean of Law can turn himself to a sexual predator.”
The judge, described the convicted Professor as a disgrace to the community of learned persons who must be made to face the wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others like him in public office who have penchant for taking undue advantage over the female folks.
