The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed a viral social media video alleging that Fulani herdsmen launched an attack in the state and were repelled by Ijaw youths, describing the report as false and aimed at causing public panic.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command clarified that no such incident occurred in any part of Rivers State and warned that the claims were fabricated by individuals seeking to disrupt the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state.
“The Command wishes to state unequivocally that these claims and reports are entirely false, misleading, and designed to incite panic among the public,” the statement said.
It further stressed that there have been no reports of attacks by Fulani herdsmen in the state.

The Police urged residents to disregard the misinformation and refrain from circulating unverified content capable of heightening tension or tarnishing the state’s image.
According to the statement, the Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju is working closely with other security agencies remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
It noted that robust security arrangements, including patrol teams, surveillance units, and tactical squads, are actively in place across the state.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and accountable policing and advised Residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and rely on official communication channels for accurate information.
