How to end the incessant sit at home which is killing the south east economy.

An international businessman cum politician from Abia State, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba says the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is key to resolving the South East unrest and prevailing economic malaise.

Ochiagha Ufomba while reacting to the incessant sit – at – home order in the South East noted that his release would restore calm, reduce protests, and open the door for dialogue between the government and IPOB.

According to him, It would also signal government’s willingness to address the region’s grievances, such as political marginalization and economic exclusion, which are driving the unrest.

He however, pointed out that the release should be part of a broader strategy that includes engaging with various stakeholders, addressing insecurity, and pursuing national unity to ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.

Ochiagha Ufomba also reminded the federal government that it has a big role to play, If the sit-at-home with it’s attendant loss of life and revenues, economic distortions and hardships in the South East region which clearly are attributable to one man must be stopped.

According to him “the Federal Government must have a rethink in not holding Kanu a day longer than necessary.”

Ochiagha Ufomba who is a Global Negotiator, argued further that addressing, youth restiveness arising from unemployment, hunger, hardship and exclusion from productive economy is another factor that must be dealt with.

The notable Abia politician while calling on Governors and governments in the region to show leadership said, “I see too much reticence in handling this matter. As a global negotiator, I have long realized that every problem has a solution. But what do we see, an unfortunate situation where Governors are clay footed, and politicians use his incarceration as mere decorative make-up boxes”.
