Prioritise Your Health – Lady Fubara enjoins Rivers Women

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Fubara, has called on women across the state to embrace regular physical exercise as a vital step toward maintaining overall well-being, even as they pursue spiritual growth.

She made the call during “Fitness Thursday,” a programme hosted by Rivers Women Unite for SIM at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, as part of activities ahead of the group’s 2025 Women Converge.

The weekly fitness initiative, which brings together women from different communities, aims to encourage healthier lifestyles and promote unity among Rivers women.

Addressing participants, Lady Fubara urged them to place their trust in God while also taking deliberate steps to stay healthy. She emphasized that spiritual devotion should go hand-in-hand with physical care, stressing that women play central roles in families and society, and therefore must prioritize their health. According to her, “the most important thing is for you to be healthy, knowing that a healthy heart brings a healthy life.”

The event drew a large turnout of women from across the state, who engaged in aerobics, stretching, and other fitness routines under the theme: “A sound heart is life to the body.” Facilitators also offered brief wellness tips, encouraging participants to adopt balanced diets and regular exercise habits.

The Rivers First Lady further encouraged the women to remain prayerful, focused, and committed to the forthcoming Women Converge, which she said promises to be a transformative gathering that will attract participants from far and wide.

She noted that the event will provide opportunities for empowerment, mentorship, and spiritual renewal, positioning women to contribute more meaningfully to the growth of the state.
