Preparations are in top gear for the forthcoming boxing tournaments for further discovery of talents among students and youths from the seventeen Local Government Areas of Enugu State .
The upcoming tournaments include: the Governor Peter Mbah Boxing Championship slated for this February and the Rt Hon Speaker Uche C Ugwu grass root Boxing state finals Competition expected to hold at PPSMB Headquarters Enugu in March this year.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News, Nigeria Ex – International Boxer Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo revealed that some of the discovered student Boxers from 17 LGA’ s of Enugu State are battle ready for the events.
Mazi Okoronkwo noted that the tournaments which are approved by the State Boxing Association have already elicited interest from different individuals and groups.
He expressed confidence that the events would live up to expectations and enjoined various participating schools and Local Government Areas to assist in preparing talents discovered from their council areas.
The Ex- International Boxer commended the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche C. Ugwu for their commitment towards reviving boxing in the State.
