PINL offers Christmas Palliatives, Free Medicare Care to Ohaji/Egbema Communities

Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has distributed Christmas palliatives and carried out a medical outreach for host communities of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas of Imo State, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The exercise, implemented under PINL’s Food Bank programme, covered 24 communities across the two local government areas.

Speaking during the distribution, the General Manager, Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, said the initiative was designed to appreciate the communities for their sustained support in safeguarding the Trans Niger Pipeline, which passes through their areas.

Dr. Mezeh reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with host communities and appealed for continued cooperation to ensure zero infractions on the pipeline in the year ahead.

“This is our own way of saying thank you to our communities for a job well done. They have performed commendably in protecting oil and gas facilities within their domains, and it is important that such support is recognised,” he said.

He added that the company was confident that greater benefits would accrue to the communities in 2026, urging youths in the area to sustain their cooperation with PINL to enable it to expand its interventions.

On the medical outreach, Dr. Mezeh disclosed that over 1,000 residents had already benefitted from free healthcare services, noting that the number was expected to rise as the programme continued.

Receiving the palliatives on behalf of the communities, the Eze-Obi of Egbema, Barrister Goodhead Ariaga, commended PINL for identifying with the host communities during the Yuletide season and assured the company of continued partnership in securing the Trans Niger Pipeline.

He described the pipeline as critical to the nation’s economy and pledged the communities’ commitment to ensuring its safety and uninterrupted operation.

The monarch also urged other companies operating in the region to emulate PINL’s community-focused approach, noting that such gestures would help curb youth restiveness and strengthen community–corporate relations.

Items distributed included bags of rice, garri, beans, noodles, cooking oil and other essential food items.
