The effort to ensure overwhelming victory and grassroots expansion for the Labour Party received a strategic boost as the Executive Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Mayor Mazi Sunny Afurobi, officially received a renowned grassroots mobilizer from Nneato Zone 3, Surveyor Dr. Mrs. Baywood Cecilia Nkechi of Eziama Ugwu Ward, into the Labour Party family.
Speaking while receiving the new entrant in his office at the Council Headquarters, Nkwoagu, Mayor Afurobi expressed delight over the growing number of people joining the Party, and attributed it to the outstanding performance and transformational leadership of the Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
He described the decision of Surveyor Dr. Mrs. Baywood Cecilia Nkechi to join the Labour Party as a welcome development that would further strengthen the party’s structure in Umunneochi, particularly in Nneato Zone 3, and position it for a resounding victory in the 2027 general elections.
The Mayor encouraged her to use her wealth of experience in contributing to the growth and development of the party in her ward, assuring her that the Labour Party remains an inclusive platform that accommodates all progressive-minded individuals.
In his speech, the Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mathias Ume Nwachi, expressed happiness over the decision of Surveyor Dr. Mrs. Baywood Cecilia Nkechi to identify with the Labour Party, describing it as a major boost to the party in Nneato Zone 3, Umunneochi Local Government Area, and Abia State.
Rt. Hon. Ume Nwachi further pledged to personally accompany the new member to Eziama Ugwu Ward for her official ward declaration and registration, where she would formally obtain her Labour Party membership card.
He commended Governor Alex Otti and Mayor Sunny Afurobi for providing purposeful and people-oriented leaderships that continue to attract more grassroots support for the party.
Responding, Surveyor Dr. Mrs. Baywood Cecilia Nkechi, explained that her decision to join the party was inspired by the remarkable developmental strides of Governor Alex Otti across Abia State, as well as the exceptional administrative ingenuity and transformational leadership demonstrated by Mayor Sunny Afurobi in the various wards of Umunneochi, including Nneato Zone.
She therefore assured party members that she would deploy her experience and mobilization capacity towards strengthening the Labour Party at the grassroots and work tirelessly with other members to secure overwhelming victories for Governor Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
