The Imo State Police command says Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB have attacked Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakunwata Uno communities in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Areas of Imo State, killing at least seven people.
According to a report by DAILY POST, the incident occurred Friday morning (25/7/25) when the assailants invaded the communities.
Confirming the ugly development in a statement, DSP Okoye Henry, Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Command, said, “over seven persons” were gruesomely killed in the attack, while an unspecified number of others were critically injured.
According to him, “The senseless assault, which claimed the lives of over seven persons and left several others critically injured, was described by the CP as barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable.
“He assured the public that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aboki Danjuma that the Command’ has deployed adequate operational and intelligence assets to identify, apprehend, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
To this end , he disclosed that: “the CP has led a tactical unit for intense combing of the affected areas and affirmed that the situation is now under control, and proactive security measures have been taken to forestall further attacks and restore lasting peace in the region”.
