Ex-International and boxing Promoter, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo says he is excited at the prospects of the forthcoming boxing championship tagged ‘Rumble in Enugu’.
The championship featuring boxers in different categories is slated to hold on 22 October, 2025 and is sponsored by IKEUJ Boxing promotion, sanctioned by the presidency , Nigerian boxing board of control NBB of C.
The event that will hold at the parliamentary hall PPSMB Enugu features in the Lightweight – Chinaza Ikechukwu Okoronkwo (The Emperor) vs Oche Adegene; Featherweight – Zee Chibuike Okoronkwo (The King Priest) vs Kumazi Daniel J and Super Featherweight – Israel Obinna Ogbodo ( Izzy Money) vs Okeke Tochukwu.
According to Mazi Okoronkwo the Enugu State finals of the 8th edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing Talent Hunt Exercise from the 17 LGAs will also hold at the same venue and day with the Bantamweight featuring Jude Ugwuanyi vs John Wisdom and Middleweight that will see Shedrack Ozoemena ( De Bull Nwa Nike) lock horns with Chinedu Marvellous (Steel Bender).
The Boxing Promoter who was speaking with Hanto Daily News further made public that other emerging boxing talents discovered in all the council areas will also entertain the audience in the fiesta that kicks off at 10 AM.
He thanked the Enugu State Governor , Mr Peter Mbah and the speaker Enugu State House of Assembly , Rt Hon Uche C. Ugwu for their unprecedented support to the growth of boxing in particular and sports at large.
The Ex-International assured that the event live up to expectations, stressing that everything has been put in place to make a memorable outing.
