The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved the nomination of the Chief of staff to Governor Douye Diri and a former member of the State House of Assembly, Peter Pereotubo Akpe as the new Deputy Governor for the state.

Akpe’s nomination followed the demise of the serving Deputy Governor, Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo who died on December 11, 2025.
