As was given to Ikwuano, So Shall it be for Ohuhu – Stakeholders in Ikwuano & Umuahia Federal Constituency Insist on Two Terms for Ohuhu

Some Stakeholders in Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency ,have unanimously demanded that the Federal House of Representatives seat, currently occupied by Hon Sir Obi Aguocha Labor Party (LP), be domiciled in Umuahia North State (Ohuhu) Constituency as resolved or agreed by Ndi Ikwuano , Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, in 2019.

Speaking with Newsmen on the issue, Hon Barrister Anderson Akaliro, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly revealed that critical stakeholders in the Federal Constituency reached an agreement that Hon Sam Onuigbo from Ikwuano should serve two terms which he served served meritoriously for two terms of eight (8) years.

Baring his mind, another stakeholder, Professor Roy Mbakwe, claimed that the letters of that agreement gave impetus for Hon Sam Onuigbo, from Ikwuano, to serve eight years recalling that before the agreement each clan in the Federal Constituency had rotated the seat on a single term basis.

Professor Roy Mbakwe contended that adherence to the agreement would ensure political stability and live and let live in the Federal Constituency .

According to Professor Roy Mbakwe going by the 2019 pact, two terms have come to stay in the Federal Constituency.

He also appreciated the Critical Stakeholders in the Federal Constituency for the well thought out agreement which enhances the seniority and efficiency of the Legislator and benefits the Constituency and constituents more.

Contributing, the Councilor representing Nkwoegwu Ward in Umuahia North Legislative Council, Uzo Uko, argued that adherence to the 2019 agreement would ensure that the polity is devoid of rancour and mistrust that may result if the race becomes free for all .

Recall, the Council of Traditional Rulers in the Federal Constituency recently held a meeting in Ikwuano Local Government Area where they addressed the Media restating their stand on the 2019 agreement.
