Anambra poll: I lost in my poling unit because I couldn’t buy votes – Moghalu

George Moghalu, Labour Party candidate in the Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election says he lost in his polling unit during poll as a result of vote buying by his opponents.

Moghalu who made the revelation in an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television said he refused to buy votes like some contenders and made it clear that he could not afford to match the amount of money other candidates were offering voters.

He regretted that many voters in his polling unit succumbed to the temptation of money and blamed their attitude to their financial struggles.

“So, they have too much money to buy votes, and what do you expect my people to do? They fell because a lot of them are poor,” he said.

The LP Candidate pointed accusing fingers on the ruling party in Anambra, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, of being the main culprit behind the alleged vote-buying activities, adding that several party agents, some of whom had been arrested for vote-buying, were seen wearing APGA party tags.

“There’s even a commissioner who was also caught on camera buying votes in my particular constituency,” Moghalu further alleged.
