The Mayor Umunneochi local government area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has directed the contractor handling the retrofitting of a- Five -Classroom block at Umuaku Central School to ensure the completion of the project within the four weeks deadline contained in the contract .
Speaking on Tuesday while inspecting the project, Chief Afurobi, said It is the desire of his administration work towards ensuring that the project is completed in record time and handed over to the relevant school authorities.
While expressing happiness that Umuaku Central School was captured in the ongoing schools remodeling exercise in the council area, the Mayor urged the contractor to ensure quality delivery with standard building materials in executing the project.
Chief Afurobi disclosed the schools will be equipped with modern educational materials to make learning very conducive for pupils and teachers.
The Mayor who called on the people to support the Contractor, further enjoined the town union Leaders and Traditional institutions in communities, where government projects are being undertaken to act as government watchdogs.
He reiterated his determination to provide the people with more democracy dividends, emphasizing that each ward in the local government will benefit from one project or the other.
Chief Afurobi used the forum to call on the people to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Alex Otti, which has delivered lasting legacy projects in different parts of Abia State.
Conducting the Mayor round the school premises, the Contractor handling the project, Engr. Emmanuel Ngwakwe, thanked the government for entrusting him with the school rehabilitation project, assuring that he will deliver quality job in record time.
He solicited the cooperation of the community to enable them deliver on time.
